Commit to Connect is a cross-sector initiative increasing the capacity of the aging and disability networks to address social isolation and loneliness and advance social connection as a critical part of health and well-being.
Accessible transportation is foundational to social participation and community living. Join ACL's Commit to Connect initiative for a webinar on how transportation programs can improve mobility, social connection, and health outcomes of older adults and people with disabilities.
The Coordinating Council on Access and Mobility Technical Assistance Center will share strategies and resources for aging and disability networks to strengthen the impact of their transportation programs and services on social connectedness. Attendees will hear from Council on Aging of Southwestern Ohio on home52 Transportation, a person-centered coordination model providing specialized door-to-door transit services for older adults and people with disabilities. The County of San Diego’s Aging & Independence Services will present on how their public transit training “field trips” leverage peer support, community engagement, and skill building to increase the mobility and social connection of older adults.
This event will include CART captioning and American Sign Language interpretation. The webinar will be recorded and shared publicly following the event. Questions or additional accessibility requests may be directed to info@committoconnect.org.
